Beautiful Ship, Poor Service! |

Mar 2009 |
|
We are experienced cruisers who decided to try NCL's "Freestyle cruising" with our son (5 1/2) and our friends. We were all very disappointed in the service (cabin attendants and dining staff). The poor service was a direct result of NCL's "freestyle cruising". The dining staff have very little incentive to provide excellent service since they will not be receiving a direct tip from their guests. Also, the cabin attendants receive a fixed "service charge" from each passenger per day. Again, there is no direct incentive to provide excellent service since they will be receiving the same amount each week, regardless of the services they provide. In addition, there were only two cabin attendants assigned to clean and turn down the cabins each day. With respect to the children's program on NCL, it was mediocre at best. The facilities were relatively small and the staff was courteous but not very energetic or outgoing. We will never sail on NCL again. |

Freestyle = Paystyle |

Based on what we experienced, we won’t recommend the Norwegian Pearl, nor NCL, to any of our friends. I’ve now taken two cruises with NCL, and it will not be our choice for future cruises. |

Simply Not Up to Par |

After cruising five nights with family, we are sorry to say that NCL is inferior to RCL or Carnival in almost every department. |

Norwegian Pearl Cruise Review |

Dec 2006 |
|
The new 93,530-ton Freestyle Cruising vessel is the latest in a string of Jewel-class ships. Norwegian Pearl features an industry first -- a four-lane 10-pin bowling alley -- and two NCL firsts: a rock-climbing wall and two top-of-the-ship Deluxe Owner's Suites. Great dining experiences. |

First Cruise on NCL |

The total cost of the cruise met my expectations and is compatable with competing cruise lines. |
