This striking new vessel was designed specifically to offer the wide range of amenities and services found on the larger Grand Princess-class vessels -- while maintaining an emphasis on providing big-ship choice with small-ship feel. Island Princess will feature a unique wedding-at-sea program, wonderful alternative dining options, an AOL Internet cafe, and, of course, Princess' trademark balcony cabins.
Just as on Princess' larger vessels, Island Princess has three distinctive show lounges, but with one added dimension. The two-story interactive aft lounge is technologically equipped to offer full television production capabilities and high-definition projection. Known as the Universe Lounge, this special area features decor inspired by Jules Verne's classic tale "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," and sports three revolving stages. The lounge will also be home to a new "ScholarShip at Sea" program, including enrichment courses on cooking, photography, ceramics, visual arts, computers, and other fun and informative classes.
The ship's Personal Choice Dining lineup is comprised of two main dining rooms, along with the popular Sabatini's Italian trattoria. New to the program is the Bayou Cafe, the first New Orleans-style restaurant at sea offering Cajun specialties and live jazz music that captures the unique spirit of Bourbon Street. The ship also features Princess' 24-hour restaurant, the Horizon Court, and round-the-clock room service.
In addition, passengers will find a variety of new gathering places, including a cigar lounge with its own humidor, plus a 1960's retro martini bar -- both firsts for Princess. Meanwhile, many passenger favorites are in evidence, with some new twists. The Wheelhouse Bar will be home to a museum of P&O memorabilia, while Explorers Lounge, a lively spot aboard Grand Princess-class ships, will continue the adventure with dicor that celebrates the essence of Egypt, Morocco and Bali.
As on the line's largest ships, the Island Princess also offers a wedding chapel, a nine-hole putting course, a 24-hour AOL Internet Cafe, and an extensive children's center.
